Welcome to our Argentine folklore weekend: Tierra.
Tierra means soil, earth, land. This is the name we have chosen for this weekend of Argentine folklore organised by Abrazo Tango and by the renowned folk dancer Emilio Cornejo.
Through the land we connect to our roots and through these roots we may find connections that transcend cultural differences, language barriers, and countries' borders. But we are also looking for the physical connection to the earth or soil: to find movement that is rooted and grounded.
Welcome to connect to the earth and to each other through the language of folkloric dances!
14:00 - 15:30 Basic Rhythms: We will discover and play with rhythmic patterns 3/4 and 6/8. With this, any Argentine folk dance will be easy to understand, dance and improvise.
15:45 - 17:15 Folklore Libre - Chacarera: Expanding the base of the dance. Movements, steps and its variation, exploration of turns.
19:30 - 20:30 Peña "Tierrita" - DJ Emilio Cornejo (AR)
20:30 - 01:00 Milonga "El Abrazo" - DJ Luis Rojas (AR) with folklore show by Emilio Cornejo
14:00 - 15:30 Zamba - "Pañuelo": Where does the handkerchief movement start from? Finding freedom of movement.
15:45 - 17:15 Folklore Libre - Zamba: Expanding the base of the dance. Movements, turns and choreography elements that can be used to improvise.
